Lifeguards

Lifeguarding is a fun, admirable, and memorable experience with tons of privileges and rewards. Lifeguards are among the few summer jobs where you can truly make a difference in someone else’s life, as well as your own

As a Lifeguard you will be responsible for attendant responsibilities as well as Lifeguard responsibilities. This includes guest safety in pool and run out areas. You are expected to always maintain a proactive scanning pattern and always remain in a rescue ready position.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Must have a flexible schedule including morning, evening, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must interact with guests enthusiastically to initiate a meaningful connection.
  • An outgoing, friendly, energetic person willing to interact with customers, providing a friendly greeting and exchange is required.

No Experience Necessary!

We offer FREE, PAID, training here on site through Starguard Elite. Certifications from other agencies (Red Cross/Ellis/YMCA) will not be honored here as lifeguarding certificates, however, if you have them, the classes will be mostly review and you will pass with no trouble.

We take our lifeguard’s training very seriously. Our Lifeguards are trained at our facility, by our staff, so you will know exactly how to handle situations that could occur within our park. In addition to the initial training process, every lifeguard is REQUIRED to attend in-service training. This is additional training to keep your skills up to date and fresh. We also try to audit our guards every day while they are working to make sure they are scanning their water correctly and doing the best job they can!

A little about Starguard Elite Lifeguard Training

Lifeguard Certification Requirements

  • Swim 50 yards continuously and in a comfortable fashion.
  • Swim 50 yards continuously and in a comfortable fashion with a rescue tube on your chest.
  • Tread water for 1 minute without the use of your hands
  • Swim down 10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound brick and swim it to the wall.
  • Pass the written and practical tests. Which includes Rescues, CPR and First Aid.
  • Attend 4 Hrs. of In-service per month.

Nitty Gritty Details:

Physical Demands

  • The Employee must have knowledge and understanding of policies and standard operating procedures.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly talk and hear.
  • This position is highly active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.
  • The employee must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to push, pull, and carry 150 plus pounds in the water.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee will be working outdoors and are exposed to all types of weather and are exposed to loud noise throughout the day.
  • Ensure the correct and safe dispatch of guests, proper intervals on slides, provide crowd control for que lines, stacking and/or inflating tubes, and distribution of ride vehicles to guests.
  • Participate in Starguard audit process.
  • The employee must be able to use Personal Protective Equipment.

Expected hours of work

  • Due to the nature of this business and training requirements, we require that employees be available to work at least two days a week. (8 shifts a month) varied schedule. We require that you be available to work weekends and holidays from May to September.

Park Greeters

Our Admissions staff is one of the most important areas of our park. The Admissions department is the very first department that our guests encounter when they enter the park. For this reason, we MUST make a good first impression. In this department as well as in the whole park, image and attitude are very important. We are looking for friendly, outgoing Cashiers and Greeters for our front gate area of the park.

Greeters are there to direct and assist guests waiting in line. Greeters will assist with putting on and checking wristbands. They should also help guests adhere to park rules, and answer questions promptly and accurately

Admissions / Golf Cashiers

The Cashier position is responsible for maintaining guest service, generating sales, housekeeping, Cash register operations (POS) and loss prevention in adherence to all company policy standards. The cashier is responsible for the correct handling of all monetary transactions to always ensure our guests’ satisfaction.

The wait staff is responsible for creating guest satisfaction through both the food and beverage AND the hospitality program through preparation, preparedness, and presentation. The wait staff is also responsible for the correct handling and preparation of all food items and monetary transactions to ensure our Guests’ satisfaction at all times. Prepare and serve food and beverages to park guests, operate cash registers, help maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned stand while providing quality service to park guests.

Food Service Cashiers

The wait staff is responsible for creating guest satisfaction through both the food and beverage AND the hospitality program through preparation, preparedness, and presentation. The wait staff is also responsible for the correct handling and preparation of all food items and monetary transactions to ensure our Guests’ satisfaction at all times. Prepare and serve food and beverages to park guests, operate cash registers, help maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned stand while providing quality service to park guests.

Line Cook

The line cook position is responsible for creating guest satisfaction of the food and beverage program through preparation, preparedness, and presentation. The line cook is also responsible for the correct handling and preparation of all food items to ensure our Guests’ safety and satisfaction at all times. Prepare and serve food and beverages to park guests, operate cash registers, help maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned stand while providing quality service to park guests.

Food Service Expo / Runner 15+

EXPO: The expo position is responsible for creating guest satisfaction of the food and beverage program through preparation, preparedness, and presentation. The expo is responsible for the correct handling and preparation of all food items and the overseeing of monetary transactions to ensure our Guests’ satisfaction at all times. Prepare and serve food and beverages to park guests, operate cash registers, help maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned stand while providing quality service to park guests. Communication skills are a necessity in this position.

Runner: The runner position is responsible for creating guest satisfaction of the food and beverage program through preparation, preparedness, and presentation. The runner is responsible for the correct handling and delivery of all food items and is essential in providing outstanding service to park guests. Prepare and serve food and beverages to park guests, operate cash registers or handheld devices as necessary, help maintain cleanliness and safety of assigned stand while providing quality service to park guests. Communication skills are a necessity in this position.

Birthday Host / Hostess

Birthday parties we offer here at the OC Waterpark are a critical area of our property. We want to ensure guests who choose to celebrate their party with us are an exciting and special time. As a Party Host, you are on the front line to make sure this experience is stress-free and enjoyable for our guests!

Clean Team

Safety and cleanliness of our guest areas is of great importance at the OC Waterpark. Our Maintenance team is the backbone of what we strive to achieve. General Maintenance staff is responsible for the cleanliness and “behind the scenes” work that keeps our park beautiful and operating efficiently.
